BOAT EVENT AT VUNG TAU – BEYOND AN EVENT

After the success of Boat event  in Binh Thuan Province in 2015, GS Battery Vietnam continue organizing “Boat event” at 2 locations in Vung Tau: Ben Da Port and Ship Mechanical Factory in 2 consecutive days 17 and 18 May 2016. Key activities of the event included free maintenance for fishing boats and ship, technical guide for boat care and interactive games with the fishermen. 

Accordingly to the Agriculture and Rural Development Office, there are 6,300 fishing boat in Ba Ria- Vung Tau. With the fishermen, besides the fishing devices and daily necessary, electricity required for fishing, communication device and lighting is critical. Therefore, the battery of the boat engine has become a close partner with fishermen in their long journey onboard.

Understanding that “Good battery means good fishing”, GS Battery technicians did a check-up for 103 boats, provide technical advice to more than 420 fishermen/women to guide them how to take care the battery properly and how to allocate the electricity sources in the boat as well as how to trouble shoot the battery problems. Besides, the boats at the event was also taken through a complete battery care processes: terminal post cleaning, voltage measuring, distilled water filling, connection wire checking.

From a survey executed by GS Battery this year, 90% of the boat battery is Wet Cell battery; 95% of fishermen or helmsmen forget refilling the distilled water when the cells get dry; or if refilled, it was by dilute acid or just by water. This habit is not right to the durability and performance of the battery. The right refilled water for battery must be distilled water. During the Boat event, GS technicians consulted the consumers one by one and also distributed the Battery Guide book to the participants.                                                                                

“Boat event” also offered different activities with interactive games and gifts to energize the participants before and after the fishing days.

GS Battery also took this chance to listen the comment and feedback of fishermen, helmsmen about battery usage, from which, GS Battery, in the coming period, can design and manufacture next products that are more suitable to customers.
